XBRL (Extensible Business Reporting Language) is a standard developed to exchange business and financial data among businesses and institutions. The objective of its creators was to provide a widely available and standardized tool for business report preparation, presentation and analysis.

XBRL is put to practical use wherever it is necessary to create and process business and financial reports. It allows preparation and processing of reports in the same way regardless of whether the reported data represent employment structure, employment contract or the balance sheet. XBRL is intended to harmonize business and financial approaches.

XBRL is an open standard, without licensing fees. That should make it more popular the world over and make its development consistent with users’ expectations.

Examples of XBRL applications in Poland and around the world:

  • COREP/FINREP mandatory bank reporting in Poland
  • preparing reports in Monitor Polski B in Poland (under development)
  • European EUROFILING bank reporting in XBRL format (COREP/FINREP successor)
  • Standard Business Reporting (SBR) – local integrated XBRL reporting standards developed in the Netherlands and Australia
  • IFRS – an international project based on unified IFRS taxonomy
  • reporting for tax offices in the U.K.
  • different types of reporting based on XBRL in the U.S.

FINGO is the producer of aSISt system – a software solution to support mandatory bank reporting.

aSISt was created to provide a specialized application for COREP/FINREP reports. It was built from scratch on XBRL technology. Hiding the complexity of XBRL technology and simplifying the reporting work were other principles which we worked towards.

aSISt has a strong position in the Polish market of mandatory bank reporting in XBRL format (COREP/FINREP). The application has been evolving since 2007 and has reached maturity – it provides a wide range of functionality and stable, efficient work.

aSISt was subsequently extended to support additional reports such as WEBIS and PEGAZ. They are supported through their conversion to XBRL taxonomies developed by FINGO. In this way, all the functionality available for COREP/FINREP reporting is also available for WEBIS and PEGAZ: data mapping, report validation, dealing with reporting cycles, logical links between different reports and analyses as well as taxonomy and report version management.

aSISt is being extended to support other reports such as F1, PD and report of minimum reserve.
